Fun Spot USA getting its first roller coaster!
Friday, June 11th, 2010Have you heard?! The Fun Spot USA located right next door to us, by Old Town, will be getting its first roller coaster! It’s called The Galaxy Spin, and it’s a 55 foot-tall “wild mouse” coaster that seats up to four people per car! This wild mouse coaster is a small roller coaster that takes tight, flat turns and averages 30 miles per hour. It will provide different experiences depending on how many people ride it at a time and how much they weigh. Those factors can cause variation in the spins and turns the cart takes.
The Galaxy Spin is the 20th ride at Fun Spot USA and it will be incorporated within the $34.95 all-rides armband. The $34.95 armband includes all of Fun Spot’s thrill rides, go-kart tracks and other attractions. A $24.95 armband includes all of the attraction’s rides except the go-kart tracks. Individual admission – three Fun Spot tickets – amounts to about $9 per ride.
This new ride is planned to open this Christmas. The folks at The Fun Spot USA will be working hard this fall. If you visit us during the fall, be sure to take a peak and check out the progress. We’ll try to walk over from time to time and take some photos to keep you updated.
Sharing what one guest had to say on TripAdvisor…
Friday, May 21st, 2010I would like to say that if you want to stay in a hotel and enjoy the area and the activites in the Kissimmee Florida area you need to stay at the SERALAGO HOTEL AND SUITES, This place is a great place to stay with your family. The rooms are VERY roomy and you have enough room to move around the room and not have to worry about bumping into each other… They have a kitchen area in the room which is really great and a fridge and microwave for your convenience. The pool was big enough where you werent crowded, and you didnt even have to worry about having a towel they had a cabinet FULL of towels. They even had an exercise room that you could visit if you wanted a good workout and what really topped this HOTEL off was that they had a LAUNDRY ROOM where you could wash your clothes and not go home with dirty clothes.. Now that was just GREAT to have… My kids had FUN during our stay, heck they didnt even want to leave to go to disney world because they wanted to stay and swim the whole time we were there…
THANKS SERALAGO FOR THE GREAT HOTEL AND FOR THE GREAT OPPORTUNITY… SEE YOU IN THE FALL…..
Are you a Star Wars Fan?
Thursday, May 13th, 2010Do you know about Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? It begins May 21 and runs for 4 consecutive weekends ending June 13th. This event brings fans of all ages together as they come face to face with their favorite Star Wars characters. If you are anything like my husband and son, you’ll want to be there very, very early – between 5:30-6:00am, before the park opens to stand in line for Fast Passes to meet the celebrities.
The Star Wars Weekend event fills Disney’s Hollywood Studios with more than 50 Star Wars characters from the entire saga, including the evil Sith Darth Vader and Darth Maul, Greedo, Queen Amidala, Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2, the loveable Wookiee Chewbacca, Twi’leks, Rodians and every hero, heroine, droid and villain in between. Jedi Mickey Mouse has even been known to make an appearance. While in line for the Star Tours attraction one year, I was startled to find Darth Vader standing behind me in line! My family thought it was funny, but I have to say, there’s something about being face to face with Darth Vader! Yikes!
This year celebrity hosts will be Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett from Empire and Return of the Jedi) and Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka) from The Clone Wars. The celebrity line up for 2010 is as follows:
- May 21-23 – Temuera Morrison, Daniel Logan, and Dee Bradley Baker
Morrison played Jango Fett as well as the clone troopers in the live action movies, while Daniel Logan played Boba Fett and all the clone cadets in Episode II. Baker is the voice of all the clone troopers in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, including the ever popular Captain Rex. - May 28-30 – Matthew Wood, Lorne Peterson and Tom Kane
In addition to providing the rasping voice of General Grievous and his chatty battle droids, Matthew Wood is also a sound editor on the Star Wars prequels and The Clone Wars. Lorne Peterson is a veteran ILM model-maker who worked behind-the-scenes on all six Star Wars movies. Tom Kane is the voice of Yoda in The Clone Wars, and also the narrator who begins each show with a rousing introduction. - June 4-6 – Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, and Dave Filoni
Williams is of course famous for his role as Lando Calrissian, administrator of Cloud City and Rebel hero. Ray Park is the energetic, acrobatic villain Darth Maul from Episode I, and Dave Filoni is the supervising director of The Clone Wars. - June 11-13 – Ray Park, Peter Mayhew and James Arnold Taylor
Ray Park returns for a second weekend, and he is joined by Peter Mayhew, the gentle giant behind the walking carpet – Chewbacca the Wookiee. James Arnold Taylor provides the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars, as well as Plo Koon.
Star Wars Weekends features a variety of activities such as: “Star Wars Trivia,” with prize giveaways; “Star Wars: Jedi Training Academy,” allowing kids under 12 to hone their light saber skills and prepare to do battle with Darth Vader himself; and a motorcade featuring favorite Star Wars celebrities.
Star Wars celebrities are on hand each weekend for photos, Q&A, autograph sessions and Hollywood-style motorcades.
These Star Wars Festivities are included with regular theme park admission.

TripAdvisor Review dated April 14, 2010
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010I just got back from a 3 nite 4 day trip to Disney with my 7 yr old and 9 yr old. After reading some of the reviews on here I was a little concerned but that all went away when we got the room. Staff is very friendly. The store wasn’t to bad. They have an excellent philly steak sandwich. My children are very hard to please and they loved the room and the pool!!! We stayed in the kids suite and it was the best!!! My daughters loved it!!! Had their own tv, x box, desk, and 3 beds to choose from. It also looked like a castle. It was really cute!!! The pool and hot tub were great. The breakfast buffet was great. Kids eat free which is a plus. My bed was very comfortable and relaxing!!! Nice little tiki bar for those of you who like great mixed drinks!! Bartender not to bad looking for the single moms out there lol We had a great time and when we go back to Florida we WILL be staying there again. If traveling with children get the kids suite you will not regret it!!!!

Did you know about this…?
Friday, April 9th, 2010I read something that made me remember something that I did with my family several years ago. It was a lot of fun and had a minimal cost - which nowadays we’re all looking for! I checked and it’s still going on, so I thought I would share this with you.
A friend had told us that they went over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and had a great time for free?!! So, looking for something different to do - we packed the kids and my visiting in-laws into the car and headed over. And what a great time we had! There were campfires set up for everyone to enjoy. We bought a couple of s’mores kits and roasted marshmallows over the campfire. We all enjoyed the yummy treats and just had a nice time.
I called Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and was told it is still going on. It’s called the Campfire Singalong and it takes place every night. It’s open to anyone who would like to go and you don’t need to call ahead and make a reservation. They have a singalong that starts between 7pm and 8pm. Seating is on bleachers and benches or you can bring your own folding chairs or blankets. Chip and Dale join the fun and lead the kids in dances like the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey. They pose for photos and sign autograph books too. And as if all this fun was not enough - a classic Disney movie is shown. And it’s all at no cost!!
So if you are looking for something different to do during your visit, no need to make a reservation, just head over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campgrounds at the designated time. It takes place near the Meadows Trading Post. To get to the campground itself, you can either drive or take a boat over from the Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian Resorts. For more information call Disney at 407-824-2788.
Here’s what an Expedia guest had to say…
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010Close to Disney but yet far enough to not be in the heavy traffic.
Even though we were not able to spend any time in the pools I was impressed that there were two heated pools. The room had a microwave and a mini fridge so we were able to buy some food and cook when we wanted and save some money. The hotel is close enough to Disney that you can go back and take a break if needed (or change clothes if you get too wet on the water rides). The hotel offers a shuttle to Disney which is an absolute plus. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
A Great Stay!… Review from TripAdvisor
Thursday, March 11th, 2010First, I will tell you what we did not find at this hotel:
1. We did not find any rude staff.
2. We did not find any bugs of any kind.
3. We did not find any unsafe situations.
4. We did not find any trouble connecting to the wireless internet.
5. We did not find anything to complain about.
What we found was just a really nice place to stay while we were there to go to the parks with our children. We booked a 2 room suite, poolside, for 5 nights and our entire stay was under $400.00. Our room was spacious, very spacious. Our room very, very clean!
Everyday when we came back it was fresh, nice smelling, and clean! I think the housekeeping staff does a wonderful job!
The pool area was wonderful. Even though we were there on a cool week, the pool was so warm my kids jumped right in. The entire pool area is gated so small children can not get in unless their parents let them in.
The front desk employees were professional, friendly and quick!
All the other employess we met (maintenance, housekeeping and security) were constantly present, and very friendly. I certainly did not feel unsafe at any time, as everytime I left my room I seemed to run right into a security person….early in the morning, and late at night.
The atmosphere at the hotel was very fun. We met families from all over the United States and several from abroad. Everyone was on vacation, relaxed, and friendly.
From the hotel to the parks is a quick and very easy drive. We did not use the shuttle service because we didn’t want to be on a timetable. But the times were printed and given to you upon arrival if you wanted to use the shuttles.
Overall, I thought it was a great place, an excellent value, a fun atmosphere …and very clean!
A Guest from Wisconsin
